To design, install and remove bespoke bench-style grandstand for 512 spectators with a raised VIP platform to the rear with full step access, for several shows in Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, London.
Scope of works
To design a bespoke seating solution, as the client didn’t want the classic tip up seat normally used at events. The solution had to incorporate a VIP viewing area and front of house position. Actavo attended site visits and proposed a bespoke bench style seat design, manufactured to the client’s specification. The structure included 128 benches over 16 rows with front step aisle access, wheelchair accessible positions at the front with full ramp access and a 18m x 6m VIP platform with front of house at the rear with staircase access up to 5.5m.
Services delivered
Full design, project management, install and derig of the bench seat structure and VIP platform. Once working on site, the client also requested that we supply crowd control barriers for queuing and a small performance stage platform at the side of the structure.
Key successes
- Delivery of a bespoke structure that fitted the client’s specifications.
- Having open budget conversations at the start of the brief to ensure the team designed a system that met the client’s budget.
Solutions to challenges
A few weeks before the show, the capacity of the event had to be reduced. Actavo was able to alter the design to accommodate this change and worked with the client to identify any cost saving benefits.
Benefits to client
- An open and honest working relationship resulted in a structure the client was happy with.
- Because Actavo supplies a range of other products, the team was able to provide last minute requirements once on site.
