Actavo supplied a 900sqm purpose built, two-storey childcare facility, incorporating all site developments of a green field site in Trim, County Meath.
Scope of works
To build childcare rooms, sleep rooms, computer laboratory, reception, games room, toilet and baby change facility, offices, canteen, and a kitchen.

Benefits to client
Reduced cost and delivery time: Originally designed as a traditional build, the client’s representative opted to modularise the design to expedite the programme and reduce costs.
Energy efficient: The internal fitout included the use of a 50mm Gyproc screed to the sub-floors to increase robustness and reduce sound and movement within the floor zone. This system also improved the performance of the under-floor heating. The concrete flooring system was one of the first of its kind in Ireland in a modular setting.
Comfort: Ventilation through air handling units in cassettes within the suspended ceiling enabled a comfortable teaching environment, whatever the weather.
Design: Kingspan Micro-rib wall cladding, large windows and a striking mono-pitch roof gave a modern look to the build.
Key successes
Modular design: Actavo modularised the original traditional design to incorporate 3D offsite construction techniques to bring the project in on budget and programme.
Turnkey solution: Actavo offered a turnkey solution. It was responsible for the overall development of the site, from foundations, bio-flow treatment systems, car parks, perimeter fencing, play areas and landscaping.
Experience: Actavo’s project management experience, incorporating cost management and quality control allowed for seamless transition from procurement to delivery. While developing the site, concurrent engineering was taking place at Actavo’s manufacturing facility to ensure the project met the desired programme of works.
