To design, build and install a modular 117m² building at Shannon Airport, to be used as a gym for the airport’s Fire Station staff.
Scope of Works
Actavo was hired to design, build and install the modular building and connect all required services.
Services delivered
- Connected Mechanical and Electrical services.
- Installed showers and toilets.
- Reinforced floor structure to withhold the additional weight of sports equipment.
Solutions to challenges
As the work was adjacent to airside, extra Health & Safety precautions were taken to ensure there was no risk to the normal running of the airport. Intensive pre-planning meetings were held between Actavo and the client’s representatives before any works commenced on site. A modular link corridor was designed for access to the main fire station building.
Benefits to client
Actavo drew on its previous experience of working on modular build projects at Dublin Airport to make sure the Shannon Airport project ran smoothly and that the Health and Safety procedures met the demands of working so closely to the airside area of the airport. Actavo met or exceeded all criteria set down by Shannon Airport Authority relating to energy, sustainability, and fire safety. The building achieved the required B1 Energy Rating and a design life of 30 years.
