Actavo installed 10 electric vehicle chargers across five sites in Neath and Port Talbot in Wales. Five of the chargers were for the council’s fleet depot and the remaining five were installed at a theatre, a council storage depot, a library and a park.
Scope of works
This project included the installation of Nine 7.2KW chargers for the council’s electric van fleet.
32a IP rated socket installed in a park to charge the council’s electric all-terrain vehicle.
Services delivered
Design, installation, testing and commissioning of electric vehicle charging points and project management services.
Key successes
- The project was delivered on time and budget.
- The client was satisfied with the service.
Solutions to challenges
Safety
The work was carried out during Covid-19, which required extra safety and organisational procedures.
Actavo made sure to have site inductions on the specific measures put in place for each site. Actavo had a very robust set of RAMS (risk assessment method statements) around how to operate during Covid-19, conducting toolbox talks and briefings about how to move around sites and carry out tasks safely.
Benefits to client
Efficiency improvements
The chargers gather data about the energy usage of each vehicle. The council then extracts that data and integrates it into third party platforms for management reporting, this allows the client to understand driving behaviour and identify potential efficiency improvements across its fleet.
Helping meet targets
The CO2 emissions reduction brought about using electric vehicles will help meet the client’s Decarbonisation and Renewable Energy Action Plan goals, which is to increase the number of annual alternative fuelled vehicles within the Council's fleet ad to increase the EV infrastructure at various council locations to allow for expansion of the ULEV fleet.
“Actavo installed several commercial electric vehicle chargers across five sites in Neath and Port Talbot to help us on our journey to becoming carbon neutral. Increasing our EV infrastructure is key to achieving our sustainability goals. The project was delivered on time and safely. Actavo put additional safety procedures in place due to operating during the Covid- 19 pandemic, which we were very satisfied with.”
