Actavo was contracted to construct four pedestrian crossings and footpath buildouts across Dublin City.
Scope of works
The construction involved excavating sections of existing footpaths and roadways and removing existing road markings, traffic signs, and traffic signals and installing new ones. Actavo amended existing utilities by raising and lowering manhole frames and covers to suit new levels.
Services delivered
The construction stage involved site clearance, locating underground services, signing, lighting, and guarding services. Actavo excavated existing footpaths and road pavement and installed new ducting for traffic signal, fibre optic cables and utility amendments. The team provided new pavement and footways.
Actavo removed existing road markings, traffic signs and signals and installed new ones. It provided controlled and uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, traffic calming measures and landscaping.

Solutions to challenges
Actavo encountered multiple existing utilities upon project commencement such as ESB and telecoms cables, gas pipes and water pipes. The team installed ducts under and over the existing utilities.
The works were carried out in busy pedestrian and heavily trafficked areas.
Actavo conducted traffic light switch outs and had personnel present at busy junctions.
