Area improvement on Clarendon Street, a busy street in Dublin City Centre.
Scope of works
Excavation, reconstruction of the existing Asphalt carriageway and the repaving of the existing footpaths with new granite slabs and setts. The provision and installation of new watermains, public lighting and traffic ducts, street furniture, such as bollards, benches, bins and cycle stands, and the installation of new tree pits and trees.
Key successes
Delivering the project with minimum impact to local businesses and both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Solutions to challenges
It was a logistically challenging project, as it was on a busy street with heavy footfall and a lot of on-street businesses. Actavo worked closely with businesses and emergency services to ensure works caused minimum impact, including organising project deliveries off peak, and ensuring surrounding businesses received deliveries on time and without disruption. The project was performed during the Covid-19 pandemic. This led to managing additional health and safety requirements for working during a pandemic.
Benefits to client
- High quality area improvement delivered on time and budget in a challenging urban setting.
- Delivered the project safely during the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Good local stakeholder engagement.
