Actavo Events UK was awarded the Staff Welfare Award at the 2021 Event Production Awards that took place on 26th May at the Event Production Show at Farnborough Exhibition & Conference Centre.

This award recognises companies that initiated and put in place plans to support the mental health, wellbeing and safety of their staff during furlough, lockdown, working from home and return to work. The award acknowledges companies that put an emphasis on keeping teams together, motivated and supported.

Actavo Events UK is part of the overall Actavo Group, which has over 2,600 staff in over 100 locations.  The UK team collaborates closely with its counterparts in Ireland, and also benefits from the wider group ethos and values-driven culture.

During Covid-19 lockdown, Actavo employees could avail of an 8-week live online fitness class programme, exclusively for all Actavo employees, as well as a dedicated Employee Assistance programme for those in need of someone to talk to. As an industry-leader in safety, Actavo’s Health & Safety team also implemented rigid Covid-19 controls, Covid mitigation measures, and deployed lateral test kits on projects as the need arose.

The Events teams across the UK and Ireland developed its own Wellbeing Challenge, encouraging everyone to reach 10,000 steps per day for 6 out of 7 days per week, as well as numerous initiatives to bring staff together in a virtual social setting, including zoom lunches where work topics were discouraged!

Paul Griffin, Commercial Director with Actavo commented: “This award is great recognition for our UK and Irish Events teams who continually deliver on one of our core values “perform as a team”. The Events teams successfully worked together to develop, support and challenge each other during these unprecedented times for our industry. We look forward to maintaining the challenge as our industry reopens.”

Actavo Events UK was also shortlisted for the ‘Best Supplier Company Pivot’ for its success in adapting its business to the challenges of Covid-19, which included setting up an internal tech team and, along with its partners at Intel, delivering a 500 drone, Intel Premium Drone Show, over the city of Dublin in March this year.
