Time to Act reinforces our Golden Rules while aligning a person’s risk perception / appetite with something that matters to them. They personally identify what matters most to them on their ‘Time to Act’ card, which is provided on the reverse of the Golden Rules card.Time to Act is a thoughtful recognition by an individual of what matters to them and the potential impact of an accident involving them and how it might impact the individual. This continues the process of personal safety aligned to the concept that everybody is accountable and responsible for their own safety.
Printed on the back of the Golden Rules card is an area whereby our people write down what is important to them - it could be a family member, sports team, pet, friend, really anything – but the purpose is for people to think of the consequences of not enjoying what they have written and to change their decision to a safer one. During HEART discussions and audits individuals show their Golden Rule Card, which includes the item they have identified on the Time to Act section. This facilitates the discussion around decision making when planning the job and ties the impact of something going wrong to the role the individual has in determining if they have adequate controls in place to ensure that the task can be completed safely.
