Actavo was tasked to build and install 6no accommodation units for Covid-19 testing staff in County Wicklow. Two units were self-contained welfare units which included showers, toilets and changing facilities.
Scope of works
Manufacture, deliver and install 6no units to the HSE site in Wicklow to support testing for Covid-19 in the community.
6no accommodation units including 2no self-contained welfare units and 4no offices units.
Much of the work is carried out offsite. As well as reducing the level of disruption associated with traditional construction methods, this allowed Actavo to monitor quality in a controlled factory environment using Actavo’s bespoke ‘ActaCheQ’ app. The app was developed by Actavo to meet its Quality Control and Quality Assurance requirement on modular builds.
ActaCheQ reassures the client that all the elements required in the building are present and recorded for future reference. The App records every step and detail of the build process for the 12 elements that make up every module that leave the factory, including photographic evidence. All information is stored in the cloud and available at the touch of a button to demonstrate compliance of the finished product on site.
The modules arrived on site with 80% of the fabrication completed. Actavo delivered the modules at night, which required extra planning and increased health and safety procedures. Actavo’s approach resulted in no disruption to patients or staff.
Fast track delivery
Designing, manufacturing, and installing 6no buildings in such a short time frame allowed the HSE to quickly respond to the health crisis.
Benefits to client
Actavo’s design team worked with the client representative to design a building that could be manufactured in the most cost-effective manor, without compromising on quality or performance. The project enabled the HSE to quickly set up a Covid-19 testing centre in Wicklow so that the spread of the virus could be kept under control in the community.
