In April 2015, Actavo commenced the survey, design and construction of a new optical Fibre-To-The-Building (FTTB) network in Ireland on behalf of SIRO. The network is being built on existing ESB overhead and underground infrastructure. Actavo has been awarded 70,000 homes to date to construct across 4 towns – Cavan, Dundalk, Mullingar, Newbridge, Naas, Johnstown, Kill, Sallin’s, Clane, Carlow and Navan.
In each town, the FTTH network consists of a metro (aggregation) network layer and an access layer (the PON) – the layout of the network.
Network delivery at present is approximately 2,000 homes passed per month, which we deliver using a team of 90 people. The skillset across the team is diverse, covering project management, civils construction, overhead line construction, FTTB design, survey, wayleave office, fibre splicing/ testing and commissioning, quantity survey and quality control.
Actavo is responsible for the design and construction of the PoP stations and the design and construction of the access network, including the fibre drop to the home.
