The building achieved a modern, eye-catching design with large windows to allow natural light to flow into the building. The building was cladded with a combination of timber and brick slip systems.
Internally the finish was of a high standard with a taped and jointed and emulsion decoration finish to give a traditional feel, high quality sanitary ware and WC cubicles and IPS, pedestrian lift, floor coverings and all mechanical and electrical works.
The project received Gold SKA rating for sustainability, which was a first for the university, as well as the city of Leeds.
“Highly Commended" The building was “Highly Commended” in the “Best Public Service or Educational Building” category by West Yorkshire Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Award 2020. LABC represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales.
Actavo successfully installed the new building in a tight and congested part of the campus.
By constructing the building off-site, Actavo helped to reduce material deliveries and activities on site meaning little to no disruption to the university.
