The school expansion at Watchfield compromises of the provision of a 473m² single storey school, providing four classrooms with store cupboards, an entrance lobby and WC’s.
Through using off-site construction methods the school will be built with only 22 weeks on site, including groundworks through to handover. In addition to the creation of the 4 classroom block, Actavo also created an 828m² Muga pitch for outdoor play activities and a cycle/buggy shelter.
The external of the building houses PV panels providing clean energy and supplying a large proportion of the school’s annual electricity needs. The walls are constructed using full bricks, providing a bespoke finish which matches the existing buildings exterior, this finish is not common in modular construction.
Within the internal of the building, dwarf walls have been fitted in the kitchen area to provide an open plan feel, and giving the area multiple uses. A digital infrared sound field system has been installed into one classroom allowing pupils with hearing difficulties to fully partake in lessons.
