Actavo | Hire & Sales Solutions offers a range of trenching equipment to ensure your excavation work is carried out using the safest equipment. We have Shoring branches in four locations around the UK – Birmingham, Northampton, Manchester and Uxbridge.
Trench Boxes, Manhole Boxes, Drag Boxes, Lightweight Box Systems, Closing Panels, Trench Sheets, Manhole Braces, Walers, Struts, Edge Protection, Fall Arrest Systems, Pipe Stoppers, Gas Detection, and other related Shoring products.
No ground can be relied upon to stand unsupported in all circumstances and depending on conditions, a cubic metre of soil can weigh in excess of 1.5 tonnes. Every year people are killed or seriously injured whilst working in excavations. The law says you must prevent the risk of danger to workers in or near excavations and no work should take place until the excavation is safe.
Waler Frames provide two sided support, and are used in conjunction with trench sheets, providing a safe and adaptable working area below ground.
The lightweight frames are constructed of two hydraulic cylinder struts which attach to rails, shoring fluid allows the cylinders to be pumped to the appropriate size of the excavation.
The Driving Cap is used to protect all types of trench sheets and light piles from excessive damage during installation when placed over the top of a trench sheet.
The Edge Protection System protects users below ground as well as minimizing the risk of falling into an excavation from ground level. Our edge protection also conforms to BSEN 133374 Class A Temporary Edge Protection System Standards. They can be clamped onto panels quickly and easily.
Ground Protection or Ground Guards are lightweight plastic panels, and are ideal for work on site, to provide ground protection on a variety of surfaces. These ground protection panels have now become recognised as standard equipment for use on many sites.
Designed for use with Single and Double Acting Cylinders. The hand pump gives you a delivery pressure of up to 4000psi.
Ladder Access is designed to provide protection when entering an excavation, enabling safe entry through a self-closing door. This robust access platform is designed for use with a variety of boxes and trench sheet systems and provides protection for personnel on the platform. It can be used in conjunction with pole ladders.
The Lifting Chain maximises safety and offers a large range of multi-directional load and lift configurations. Lifting chains are attached to the handling holes provided on each piece of Shoring equipment.
The Manhole Box is a four sided excavation protection system, which is used whilst installing pre-cast manholes, chambers or tanks. The manhole box can be used in conjunction with trench boxes.
The manhole box is quick and easy to install and can be used in trenches up to 5.5m deep. Four different sized panels are available to suit a wide range of needs, these sizes also suit all pre-cast manhole rings. Two additional top boxes can be used with the Manhole base box to increase depth to 5.5m.
The Manhole Brace, is a four sided hydraulic bracing for use with trench sheets. Two types of Brace are available, both provide a safe and secure excavation area for below ground works.
The Single Acting Manhole Brace is light duty, with four braces or legs pinned together at each corner ideal for square or rectangular excavations between 2.0m to 4.0m in plan.
The Double Acting Manhole Brace provides a safe and secure support to excavations from 4.0m to 6.0m square, including sheeting. A combination of manhole braces can be used to suit rectangular excavations so that the manhole brace system can be used in many different types of excavations.
The Manhole Shutter consists of 3 differently sized panels, these are connected together to create a circular shutter, for most pre-cast manhole rings. The combination of panels fit together quickly and easily. The manhole shutters are available in heights of 900mm and 1800mm.
The Maxi Drag Box is ideal for use with long pipe runs, the size increases productivity allowing for a faster installation time. The maxi drag box can be installed using the ‘Excavate and Drag’ technique. The box is placed in a pre-dug trench and pulled along the trench as each section of pipe laying is completed.
The Trench Mini Box modules are used to support trench works ensuring that the side walls of an excavation are supported. They can be used in conjunction with other boxes such as manhole boxes and drag boxes and are quick and easy to install.
The mini trench box can be used in trenches up to 4m deep with widths from 610mm-3200mm which can be altered using telescopic struts. Up to two extension boxes can be added on top of the mini trench box to achieve additional depth.

Class 1 Industrial Standards
The Quick Release Shackle designed for pitching all types of trench sheet and light pile by use of a spring loaded pin mechanism which inserts through the lifting hole in the sheet. The shackle is suspended from an excavator or crane using an appropriate chain. Once the sheet is pitched and aligned the pin is then released by means of a rope pulled at ground level which is connected to the mechanism
Road Forms are ideal for use in the construction of ground-slabs, roadways, foundations and drives.
The forms are available in two forms, square and flexible. Road forms are put in place and secured with stakes and wedges holding them in place and providing a solid edge when pouring and working with concrete.
Road Plates provide support to vehicles and plant crossing excavations. Our road plates can be supplied in a standard or anti-skid finish to ensure safety on site.
Anti-skid road plates complete with approved skid resistance surface and anchorage points. The Street Works and Road Works Act requires plates to be treated with an appropriate skid resistance surface.
The Sheet Extractor is designed to remove trench sheets from an excavation safely, one at a time. Both standard and heavy duty models are available to suit trench sheet sizes.
The Standard Drag Box acts as a shield to protect users in self-supporting soil. It is designed to withstand up to 25kn/m2. Installation requires the ‘Excavate and Drag’ technique, the box is placed in a pre-dug trench and moved after each instalment of pipe.
The Standard Trench Box is used to provide a safe working area below ground and ensure that the side walls of an excavation are continually supported. Standard trench boxes can be used in conjunction with other boxes, including manhole boxes. They are quick and easy to install.
The standard trench box can be used in trenches up to 5.4m deep with widths from 690mm to 3200mm. Up to two extension boxes can be added on top of the standard trench box to achieve additional depth if needed.
Available for Hire or Sale.
Trench Sheets are ideal for use in conjunction with the hydraulic support systems. They are available in two styles for standard and heavy duty use.
Trench Struts are designed to provide a brace for timber wailings. They have a clawed base and head plates, which is designed to grip the trench lining and hold it tightly in place to prevent collapse.
The end plates spread the load to reduce the damage to walings, minimising the cost of replacements and repairs. The struts and props feature retaining links on the pins and inner tube, to minimise the loss of equipment on site
